Greeting Norscans,

It is my humble pleasure, to officially announce a grand Tournament for the upcoming Baghdadian Moot. As you are hopefully aware, the spring moot is being hosted by the Jackals, however, Baghdad City is one of the cities of the Wardens, alongside the jewel of Ishmael; Al'Hamet.

We the Wardens, in conjunction with the leaders of the Tarantulan nation, have decided to hold a pit fighting tournament for the peoples of the other guilds and nations, in celebration of the great nations of our world joining us at our City.

There are a few very simple rules for this tournament, which are as follows

A team of five,
10 gold entry fee,
Non-lethal combat,
Five fight five
Last team standing wins.

The winning team will go through to the next round, until we host a final bout to decide the winning team of the tournament. We would like to have sixteen teams compete, which would give a prize fund of 100 Gold to the winning team.

There are no limits on who may be in your team, so group, faction, cross faction, guild, I do not mind, as long as your entry fee is paid, you could even bring Lord Radek if you could tempt him...

The time of the Tournament and its location shall be announced soon, I look forward to seeing a team or two from the Wolf Nation taking part.

I would gladly take any questions you may have either here or in private.

I presume then that because you want it strictly non-lethal you would ban the use of Spells and abilities like Harm, Fatal & Mage Bolt? You would also ban the use of Silver weapons?

Excellent points.

Also I assume this is an honourable fight and there will be no looting of bodies?

Lord Radek, others,

I can certainly understand an inbuilt factional aversion to Silver, as you know, more than a few of the Wardens have also been blessed with certain, lineage, and therefore I understand a disdain for it.

However, at the same time I have seen powerful creatures tear men asunder because they could not be stopped in their frenzy.

My intentions for this are clear, in that no competator should die in competition.

Therefore only dismissal of certain beings would result in instant death, otherwise wounds can be healed, pattern damage removed and so forth.

The different nations of our world have different methods, different styles and different abilities, and that is where the sport and spectacle of the event comes from, pitting the best against the best in a ritualised manner.

so, to answer your query, no, they are not banned, however I would caution against any excessive use of those abilities.

Additionally,

There will be no looting of the fallen, I would advise teams bring many spectators and healers to get you back to your feet, as well as enjoy the sight of gladiator combantants pummeling each other for your entertainment...

That is a very appropriate way of thinking, yes.

And the precautions you are going to take to ensure that entrants don't accidentally forget they are carrying a magical venom are...?

An interesting point Maud,

Venoms are always a difficult situation, as an assassin in the crowd is just as likely as someone within the arena.

I can however, make sure that before each round of combat starts, each warrior wipes their own face with the edge of their blade. That should deter anyone from making an attempt, unless you can put forth a better idea?

Perhaps also those using blade oils and potions should have these items examined to ensure they are not trying to sneak anything more deadly in.

My knowledge of venom, its different forms and varying effects is limited. I shall ask, if there are any further suggestions, I shall share. :-)

We do have people versed in venoms available, and with the appropriate precautions in place of competant healers in place.

Of course I will endevour to ensure the 'safety' of the combantants taking part, but as in any gathering of people, there is unfortunately always that potential rogue element you just cannot prepare for.

Greetings people of the Heartlands and beyond,

It is my pleasure to gift to you the final rules of the pit fight, to entertain you during the stay in the region of my beloved city of Baghdad.

The tournament is being organised by the Wardens in the tradition of the Baghdadian pit fights and backed by the Tarantulan Nation. It will be held in the Tarantulan Faction on the Sunday of the Spring Moot, to commence at 3pm.

All teams must be submitted and fees paid to Raziel of the Wardens by 12 noon on the Sunday at the latest. Ask for me through the Tarantula faction, or through the guilds of Scouts, Archers of Incantors.

You must submit your team name, the names of your five players and your fee at the same time.

There will be additional 'Entertainment fights' and we would encourage audience participation when it is asked for.

The Tournament Rules

*The tournament will consist of 16 teams, each team formed of 5 players, of which each player may compete for one team only.

*It costs ten gold to enter a team in to the tournament, the prize is one hundred gold for the winning team.

*This is a non-lethal tournament, should an opposing team member be somehow slain, the entire team shall be deemed responsible. Do not allow it to happen.

*Only the ability to Dismiss, Petrifiy and Lethal Venoms are prohibited, any other abililties, skills and magical attacks are permitted. Anyone deemed acting 'excessively' with magical abilities shall be dealt with at the discretion of the organisers and the Militia.

*The teams shall be placed into a draw to decide the order of combat, when a team wins they progress to the next round as dictated by the organiser.

*The is no limit to who may be on your team, nor what skills they bring, following the above rules.

*The team that wins the final bout shall be declared the winner and claim the prize fund.

*The organisers decision is final in all matters.

You are welcome to bring friends and family as support, the more spectators, the higher the entertainment value for all involved. If you have any issues or questions, seek me out and I will endevour to help.

To combat, may it be brutal and entertaining.

Put the Wolf Faction down for 1 team. There will probably be others but only one "official" faction team. Members TBC.

Cheers

Radek

I will indeed Lord Radek,

As a famed martial nation, I have held the general assumption the Wolves would enter at least three teams, one of the combined Wolven Nation, and a team from both the famed Raggers and The Brotherhood of Fenris. I can't not see them wanting to show the rest of Erdrija why they have earned their reputations.

Myself and inevitably the Wardens will be touring the camps to promote the pit fight over the Friday and Saturday of the moot, as well as a bit of socialising, so no doubt I will see you in the next few days.
