I'm working the friday, up until anywhere between 4 and 6 so I should be able to trawl down afterwards, although the light conditions may make setup fun.

Don't suppose anyone else going anywhere near Sheffield has space for a small 'un with big bags? Can do the train, but with all my stuff it won't be much fun.

Generally, payment on the gate is not accepted (we need to know numbers for catering, insurance etc.). If there is a special circumstance then let us know. It may be possible to arrange something.

A reminder to those of you who've booked online- don't forget to send the cheque in!

Well I'll be monstering this one folks due to my unfortunate predicament of being "between characters".

I just completed my details via the "Events" section. It says my booking is recorded yet i do not appear on the Monsters attendee list? Am i just being blonde? Any forms required from me?

Are monsters in bunk spaces or are we camping too?

Jase

Your booking is "recorded" not "confirmed" (which requires stuff by people).
Printing your form off and posting it in would make someone else's life easier, due to it being a piece of paper with a signature on.

There are for all 'intents' and purposes No Bunks
Even for me, dammmit!

I dont get "online booking" if you still have to submit a form? Surely thats booking the old fashioned way? Isn't "online" booking supposed to negate the need for "paper booking"?

Form on its way.

A good question. Here's what has turned out to be the shorter version of a longer answer;

The "online booking" system has grown and morphed a bit in it's time.
It started as mostly a system where you could enter you details and print out a form to send in, and the details were already there on "our side" saving data entry.

The paperwork is a thing which The Attendee has signed to say they abide by our rules etc which makes them better covered (I don't know such law, I make no arguement) for insurance and other purposes.

Before I wrote a paypal interface, all payments required a cheque sending anyway, so some post would happen anyway.

With the advent of "but I don't have a printer..." and "but I don't have a chequebook, just some plastic cards..." we added paypal and the "fully online" option.

Currently, if you book "fully online", the Karens Dept (curently Malc) has to print out a copy of the form at their end so it can be signed when you arrive, so we are all covered.

We (by which I meant Malc) is working on an arrangement where there is still signing but on less paper. Just right now, I believe that a bit of paper sent in is Best For Him, and he has to deal with many forms, each booker jut has to deal with one.

The booking you make online is a booking request. It needs to be authorised by the Karens Dept to make sure the data really is sufficient and that the booking can be accepted (space, , being hated, other issues, fish) and then (a) informing you (by website status and email) that it is accepted and (b) listing the attendee on the publicly viewable list.

Also see this existing topic.

Your booking is now confirmed Jase along with others that came through today while I was at work.

As DM has said, the online booking has grown up to save work at this end, particularly the need for me or another member of the Karens deparment to type in all the details of everyone attending.

We are working on making further improvents/enhancements (well DM is doing all the work on it, I'm telling him what would be useful) and my "vision" of bookings in the future from a player point of view is similar to what I think you were expecting. There will still be a need for manual confirmation by the event team in my opinion just to be sure of who we let in. From the event teams point of view, there is still a lot of work that is done manually which I would like to eventually be at least semi-automated.

As DM said, there are no bunks available for players or monsters, but I believe there will be a limited indoor area of communal floorspace that monsters could sleep on although I'm not 100% sure on the details of this at the moment.

Due to the shortage of monster bookings for this event player numbers will be temporarily limited to 45.

Player bookings beyond this limit will only be accepted if accompanied by a monster booking or once we reach 20 total monster bookings. All usual booking methods will remain open and unaccompanied bookings will be held on file until enough monster bookings are received.

If you're thinking of coming to monster, please book as soon as possible so that we know. If you know people who might be interested in monstering the event, please get them to make a booking also.

The 45 limit has been reached. Player booking will now be held on file unless they are accompanied by a monster booking or until 20 monsters have booked!

Monster bookings are still welcome and actively encouraged.

Yo. I have booked fully online, for I have no ink in my printer and I'm monstering only anyway.

I promise to come and sign stuff when I get to the event.

You are now confirmed :D . I can print a form that you can sign at the event, although we try to keep that to a minimum.
