When using your 4 available slots for training on an annual basis, would it be possible to train over the winter to learn a certain skill and then that same year acquire a training voucher to climb the tree further?

I know you can't climb a training tree more than once over the winter, but does this apply to training vouchers aswell?

All tree climbing jokes welcome.

Chris.

That is fine - it happens to be an awesome way of climbing a tree faster!

Of course restricted skills won't hit your card until the following season.

The 'Over Winter' route as a 'self taught' thing also doesn't count towards your 4 for the upcoming year but rather the 4 for the previous year (i.e. self teaching at the end of this season will count in this years stuff). So I believe logically you'd also be able to Self Teach say Skill 1 over winter, then pre-book Skill 2, then training voucher Skill 3. And still buy two more skills that year.

I was about so just say "that is not so" but sometimes it is and it is important to say when and why.
They come out of the year you say you want them.

IF you go to Game Control at The Gathering (or before) and tell them that you want to learn a skill over the winter then THAT purchase comes from you current("previous") year's 4 slots.
You then remind them of this when you request an OS during pre-booking.

IF you just ask to learn a skill over winter but asking for it during pre-booking then THAT OS will come out of your current ("this" year's 4 slots.

There is only ONE winter / pre-book time. You cannot double jump as suggested.

Ok, that makes sense, so to clarify, I want to be able to become immune to fumble and shatter. I only have 10 OPS which I am hoping to save to make the switch to Paladin.

Therefore:

I will be able to Pre-book immune to fumble at the end of this year/over the winter.
Then at the following mainline events in 2014, I will be able to use training vouchers to get immune to fumble and shatter.

Is this correct?

2nd question: Where a skill replaces the previous skill on the tree, using 'Mighty Blow' from the militia tree as an example, for which the pre-requisite skill is immune to repel and strikedown;

Upon gaining the 'Mighty Blow' skill, thereby replacing 'Immune to Repel and Strikedown' on your lammie, would you lose the immunities to repel and strikedown?

No, as the os mighty blow says you are still immune to repel and Strikedown
Unsure on others however, but thats an example that I love :p

It says on the skill if one is replaced, sadly no matter how often I re-read the trip up to Far Travelled you wind up keeping about 3 skills.

Reading the available documentation is always a good plan.

OSP Book, page 7, "Self Teaching" ... basically says that when you register to learn over the winter you need to pay the OSP cost at that time.

Likewise Pre-booking you can only spend OSPs which are banked, NOT the ones you will receive after you have booked.

Also remember you only get one visit to Game Control per year to do all of these things.
So if you only have 10 OSPs in the bank you can only do 10 OSPs worth of buying before 2014.

Is this a good time to point out that you can earn 1 OSP by 4 hours of monstering, or 2 hours at double time.

While that is true in principal it has been known to happen that they let you spend the OSPs you get for pre-booking (I believe I was told that it a - depends on who processes it in the office and b - whether they do the applying of OSPs first or the purchasing of pre-book skills).

Well, that's a bug that could be fixed, so don't depend on it.
Just suggesting it clouds the issue.

With the new database up, I doubt this loophole will still be there so REALLY don't rely on it as it just makes life harder for Jules and her team and they're having a tough enough time this year with people blaming them for problems outside their control with the changeover to the new database.

The emails I got giving different official positions on the matter when I emailed LT before really clouded the issue that year. Process Notes could have fixed the bug and only would have taken 5mins to write but its a bit of a moot point. On a similar topic does anyone have contact details for Jules coz I'd happily spend a few hours volunteering at God.

Pretty much anything can be emailed to enquiries@lorientrust.com and it will get passed on to the relevant person/people/department

Can I clarify my understanding as my brain is a little tied in knots. I learned four skills over the winter. I didn't go to GOD last year to request them, I simply put them down in my booking pack. So this means that even with training vouchers etc, I can learn any more skills until I pre book for next years events. Is that correct?

Sorry "can't" was what I intended. Thanks for the clarification.
