I would just like some confirmation on this please as it is a pretty hazy topic when speaking to a lot of people.

I have heard that single handed crush has been completely removed from the system but I was under the impression Thor's Hammer still achieved this.

Could someone please clarify for me

I believe Thors hammer no longer strikes for crush in one hand. I believe its true abilities are a find out in play issue though.

Whilst technically still possible within the rules, to the best of my knowledge, there is nothing currently in the system that allows a character to strike for crush with a one handed weapon and I believe the game balance office would like to keep it that way.

From what I heard there were certain creatures that used to be able to strike for crush one handed, demons and awakended uruks if memory serves, however the general consensus I've had from people is that LT will be/are/have completely removed the ability. Which is a bit sucky, I mean fair enough you don't want it to be rife but if someone puts the time in to become powerful enough to do it and then only does it using a blunt weapon (I know I know there not official distinction nowadays) I think that'd be cool.
For example a Master Armourer with double body dev and ho only fights with a hammer should easily be able to crush some fools plate armour, I mean he's got the strength, he's got the knowledge of where to hit and he got a massive lump of metal that he's wailing into you with.

It could be argued Thor's Hammer (being the weight of a mountain and a weapon of a god) should be a rare exception, but I guess the LT have nerfed players having stuff like this.

In the battle on the Bifrost bridge a few years ago, Thor was hitting for artifact crush with the real Hammer, while the faction champion (can't remember who at the time...) was using our version of it at the same time. Pretty sure our hammer is an avatar of the real one....

Good old feast was what I believe "balanced all faction artefacts to the same" although how some factions get th likes of harm, decay and fatal on their faction artefacts don't seem to balanced to me...

Just playing devil's advocate but maybe the characters have the skill to hit for harm ,decay and fatal so stack it with the artifact? Nice if used on occasion but surely it's better to spread the love around a bit more? (ie not having a snacky character already doing snacky damage given faction artifact to do even more snacky damage)

:-)

Indeed, Rob, I suspect some factions do 'layer' the love on a few heads but then Wolves, amongst others, try to avoid doing that. I do remember a certain excellent marksman in the Guild being extremely effective so people volunteered items for him to use so his infamously hiddeous accuracy could be put to good effect.

It did lead to a victory condition for the Monster Team for an event being to force the guy to mess up his damage calls when we discovered he was doing some much...

*grins*

I believe the end result was something along the lines of 'SILVER FLAMIN' OH FOR *BLEEP* SAKE JUST FALL OVER!' Doesn't sound like much but from a man who rarely swears it was comedy gold.

I last heard a single handed weapon calling crush last year, rumour was it was a ritual'ed item.

Within the rules it would be a Damage enchantment (main rules pg 56)
i imagine an enchantment with the format May Strike Crush with Single handed would be difficult if not impossible to create though..

But a Single handed weapon with the property "May strike for Crush" would be easier..

My two pennys.

In all my years with the LT the only time I heard 'Crush' being called with a single handed was Thor's Hammer. I have played a monster with the call 'Crush' (the attack by the Void Gate Creatures). It usual takes a two-handed weapon because of the way the strike has to be role-played. In others word a weapon that can really do crush is really heavy and needs strength to wheeled.

Technically that "roleplayed blow" is for the OS Crush.
There is no game mechanic reason not to have single weapon ambi crush. With claws or daggers.

A few years ago (but still in rules 3) I played a demon for the Harts with ambi short swords. One calling artifact crush and one calling artifact harm with some other stuff thrown in. So it is possible but I suspect its saved for some pretty nasty stuff.

Not entirely sure, but didn't the Scouts Guild have a cane that could do single handed crush? This was quite few years ago I heard, mind.

They had a baseball bat that did one handed strike down, Cutter used it. Went well with the Archer's Guild cricket bat that also did strikedown (two-handed) but that was in the days when through from behind worked beautifully on prone targets.
