I leave Tammy alone for a couple of hours, she decides that her keen levels require a sing song.

Have a listen one and all.

I have heard this sung many times. Was even around when it was first authored/adapted.
Have heard many singing it, in differing tempo's and really enjoyed this one. Really nicely done. Thanks.

I recall the moot and events that led to the battle. The actions of the wolfs and harts and particularly the wolverines at the time.
Still one of the best larp songs. Always gives me shivers.

Does anyone have the chords for this song?

Lyics online elsewhere http://www.bardsguild.co.uk/song_fieldsofvanaheim.html

For academic interest, here is the original song that Darren & co based FoV on.

WATERLOO - Jim Malcolm

Spring comes tae Kirrie all the worlds in bloom
Winter is forgiven now fooled by Aprils gloom
Kirrie O Kirrie, you were aye my hame
Till Napoleons Bloody Cannon hit their aim

Jeannie O Jeannie, I am surely done
Stricken doon in battle, at the mooth o Boneys gun
Jeannie O jeannie, aye sae dear tae me
Let me hold you in my mind before I dee

Chorus
For the cold returns in Autumn, when the wind rakes the trees
And the summer lies forgotten in the cold bed of leaves
As winter begins, I mind Boney, It wasn’t only you
Who was broken on the field of Waterloo

Surgeon o Surgeon leave me wi my pain
Save your knife for others, who will surely rise again
Surgeon, o surgeon, leave my blood tae pour
Let it drain intae the bitter clay once more

Daughter o Daughter, listen here tae me
Never wed a soldier or a widow you will be
Daughter o Daughter, curse yer lad tae die
Ere he catches the recruitin’ sergeants eye

Boney o Boney, war was aye yer game
Bloody field yer table, the cannons yours tae aim
Boney o Boney we aye lived the same
Drillin’ laddies not tae fear the muskets aim

Having found 2 versions on YouTube and paused and squinted at them for a bit, her are a selection of chord sequences.

Scottish version

capo 4th fret so effective in B? but with nice easy chords

intro: Am D Am D

verse:
Am / G / C / G /

Am G D D, Am G D D

Am / G / C / G /

Am / G / D / D / ...

chorus:
Am / G / C / C /

Am / F / G / Em /

F / G / C / G /

Am / G / D / D /

My own version which matches how I (would) sing the Fields Of Vanaheim
Similar to Canadian, one small chord change, no capo, in A.

verse:
Bm / A / D / A /

Bm A E /, Bm A E /

Bm / A / D / A /

Bm / A / E / E /

chorus:
Bm / A / D / D /

Bm / G / A / F#m /

Bm / G / D / A /

Bm / A / E / E /
