A wee bit of a rough draft...

Verse 1
Sure I'm a Norscan soldier, from Gunnarsheim I came,
To see my Wolven brethren all of honour and of fame,
And to tell them of my ancestors who fought in days of yore,
That I might have the right to fight with the shield my father bore.

Chorus
It is old but it is beautiful, and it's battle marks are fine,
It has seen our enemies blood flow free as our warriors hold the line,
My father held it as a youth in bygone days of yore,
And it's when I fight that I love to grip tight to the shield my father bore.

Verse 2
For those brave souls who crossed the Void have not fought or died in vain,
The honour of the Wolf nation they struggled dearly to maintain,
If the call should come we'll follow the drum, and march into Hell once more,
That tomorrow's Norscan soldier may hold the shield my father bore!

Chorus

Verse 3
And when some day you cross the plains, to Gunnarsheim's walls you come,
We'll welcome you in royal style to the sound of the beating drum,
And Norsca's hills shall echo still, from the mountains to the shore,
And we'll sing again to the loyal strain of the shield my father bore!

Our intention is to put a bit more gusto into it though, as befitting a Wolf song!

I would possibly think about changing the word shield for sword.

Traditionally shields were just a lump of wood to stop you getting cleaved in two, a sword was passed down the family line.

Quote:
My father held it as a youth in bygone days of yore

And possibly change the word Yore for War.

Other then that awesome song, will be good if you can get a line of shields singing it.

The feeling of fighting next to your mates in the shield wall and the bond it creates with brother warriors, makes the shield a beloved thing, it is a fine song, one that the bretheren would enjoy singing.
Our resident drummer and guitarist are too young to know the tune, but they will soon pick it up. If I may, I will get the scribe to note down the words, However not many brothers of Fenris can carry a tune, we improve with beer, or it sounds like we do

After all, why carry a tune when its much easier to just kick it along.

We would be honoured for fellow Brothers in Fenris to sing this with us!!! as indeed, any fellow Wolf, but with you a special bond is shared.
Of course shared with a few beverages of the alcoholic nature :D :D :D
