Are you using Custom Profile Fields for the IC information?

The best way I found to do it was to set up a isInCharacter boolean when creating a new Sub-Forum and using that boolean use a switch to decide which information to show. That way you can have totally different information displaying IC and OC includng signitures, IC Rank even a seperate postcount and ranking system.

It seems like a defect in the edit.php or posting.php file on edit mode (depending on which phpBB version you're using) that misses out the custom profile field when editing a post. It puts the name in brackets which would say to me that it's trying to find the In Character name but failing and using a default name instead. Check the scope of your fields and the SQL links within the php code. It could be that the Custom Profile Fields php handler is set to local scope for a specific page or the SQL query is set up wrong within posting.php when editing.

The IC forum flags are all driven with some specialist code we (Rich Guant & I) wrote way back when we first had the old phpBB2 system and I later translated as piecemeal as possible. I used a flag bit somewhere rather than adding a db field this time.
It's all separate to the funky new fields because of all the "back office" code driving the online booking system, which uses My Character data.
The original posting sets post_name from a pulldown list of available IC names and in IC forums tries to use post_name rather than "user.name". When this "gets confused" I just use (username) as a failsafe.
Everytime you change "My Character" any different Character Name is written back into the standard "Occupation" field and this special names list.

I think (I have slept since then) that IC forum styles are set by custom style sets alone.

Basically. No. I had forgotten entirely about it.

Although in compensation you may soon be able to pay for catering online and other stuff.

Yeah, it's all part of some vexing little glitches that come from it validating the post name as username.
Can't be real username, can't be a group name.
And Peacock has no chance with all them apostrophes.
It's something I need to look at in detail when I have time (not onsite for work or "on site" for LRP)

I think I've seening some names not shown as well.
If you see a pattern in that, let me know.

For the apostrophe problem:

Code:
<?php
function escape_string($str) {
   if ($str !== null) {
      $str = str_replace(array('\\','\''),array('\\\\','\\\''),$str);
      $str = "'".$str."'";
   } else {
      $str = "null";
   }
   return $str;
}
?>

Usage:

Code:
<?php
echo escape_string("asdasdlkajsdas dasldkjasd'a sdasd'as ''asd''as'd' as'd'asdasdkajsd");
?>
Usage wrote:
'asdasdlkajsdas dasldkjasd\'a sdasd\'as \'\'asd\'\'as\'d\' as\'d\'asdasdkajsd'

It's not a question of escaping them for insertion into the database, it's part of the phpBB validation of what is a pure name.
